Like Gulzar and Javed Akhtar, Prasoon Joshi has also been an award winning lyricist and writer. Today is his birthday. He has turned 53 years old. He was born in Almora, Uttarakhand. Prasoon wrote songs depicting human feelings, life lessons, yearning to achieve goal and gained immense popularity.

Prasoon Joshi is a Padma Shri awardee. He is also the CEO of a big company and has been the chairman of the Censor Board for many years. Prasoon started his career in the ad world. His mother was a lecturer in political science while his father was posted in the education department. Both his parents are proficient in classical music. In such a situation, how could Prasoon be left behind, he too made creativity his hobby.

The first book was published when he was just 17 years old. The name was “Main Aur Woh”. He was inspired by Friedrich Netze’s book “Thus Spake Zarathustra”. Then he completed his studies and entered the ad world. He created many campaigns. He made a grand entry in Hindi cinema with ‘Lajja’. The songs were liked. He wrote lyrics with Sameer. Then his career turned towards the film world as well. He wrote one great song after another.

Prasoon Joshi won the National Award twice

Prasoon Joshi’s language is restrained, natural and far away from vulgarity and obscenity. Songs like ‘Taare Zameen Par’, ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ and many more take the listeners on a journey to a different world. He received the National Film Award twice for ‘Tujhe Sab Hai Pata Meri Maa’ from ‘Taare Zameen Par’ and ‘Bolo Na’ from ‘Chittagong’. He also won many Filmfare Awards.
