New Delhi. Bollywood’s legendary megastar Amitabh Bachchan will soon turn 82. He has shared an interesting anecdote related to his film ‘Sharabi’. He has told how he got the idea of this film.
The veteran actor revealed this during the new episode of his quiz-based reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 16’, when he welcomed Aligarh contestant Dinesh Kumar to the hot seat. As the game progressed, Big B played the 1984 classic Asked a question related to ‘Sharabi’, which revealed an interesting story behind the scenes.
Got a hit film offer in flight
In his conversation, Big B said, ‘We were traveling from New York to West Indies with Kalyanji-Anandji’s orchestra and Prakash Mehra was with us. During the flight, Prakash ji brought up the idea of Sharabi. When we were in the air, he told the whole story and asked my thoughts. I just said, ‘Okay, let’s think about it.’ When we returned, he had already written the script. However, the dialogues were incredibly long, with some spanning two-three pages.
Dialogues were shortened on the request of Big B
Dinesh was excited about the shooting of the film, when he asked more questions, Big B said in his special style, ‘No, no, listen… the story is not over yet, after this he told director Prakash Mehra, “You told me. Made drunk for the entire movie, and drunk takes time to speak. If I speak these 4 pages of dialogues, the film will be several hours long. Please make them smaller. Prakash agreed to this, and the dialogues were shortened.
Hand injury had become a style
Jaya Prada was seen opposite Amitabh Bachchan in ‘Sharabi’. He had told in the popular TV show Indian Idol that Amitabh Bachchan’s hand was burnt, but as a matter of style, he kept that hand in his pocket and shot the song De De Pyar De with a handkerchief. Some time ago, Amitabh Bachchan had also tweeted a post saying, ‘My hand was badly injured due to a bomb explosion during Diwali. It took me two months to even move my thumb towards my finger.
