The people present there immediately take him to the nearest hospital, where the doctors declare him dead.
According to doctors, Ashok Mali died due to a sudden heart attack during Garba.
Last year too, several incidents of sudden heart attacks and deaths were reported from across the country during Garba events. Within 24 hours, 12 people died of heart attack and cardiac arrest. A 17-year-old boy in Ahmedabad and a 13-year-old boy in Baroda also died of heart attack.
Emergency health conditions like heart attack and cardiac arrest were till now associated only with older people. But statistics are saying that the age limit for this disease is now disappearing. The rapid increase in the incidence of heart attacks, especially during festivals like Garba and weddings, is a matter of great concern.
so today news of need Let’s talk about Garba and heart attack. And know that-
- Why are these incidents of heart attacks happening?
- What are the measures to prevent these?
Expert: Dr. Tanmai Yermal Jain, Cardiologist, Manipal Hospital, Pune
Question- Why do the incidents of heart attacks suddenly increase during Navratri festival, Garba, weddings across the country?
answer- Millions of cells in our body need blood every moment to function. From our birth till our death, the heart keeps doing this work continuously without getting tired, that is, it keeps pumping blood and supplying blood to every part of the body 24 hours.
Whether a heart attack occurs after a certain age or while dancing at a wedding, festival or while working out in the gym, the reason behind it is always the same. That is that our heart health is not good. Due to our lifestyle or genetic reasons, the heart has become weak and the job of pumping blood has become a challenge for it.
Heart attack occurs during hardcore physical activity because at that time the body needs more blood and the heart is working harder to meet that demand. On normal days, despite being weak, the heart is able to do enough work to meet its daily needs, but when the workload suddenly increases, it is unable to handle it and stops.

answer- According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 6 crore people die every year across the world, out of which 32% of deaths are due to cardiovascular diseases.
According to the famous medical journal ‘De Lascent’, every year in India about 5-6 lakh people die due to sudden cardiac arrest.
Question- What precautions should be taken to avoid the risk of heart attack during Garba?
answer- Dr. Tanmai Yarmal Jain, cardiologist at Manipal Hospital, Pune, says that to avoid heart attack or cardiac arrest, the most important thing is to take care of the health of your heart. Do exercise, eat healthy food, get enough sleep and stay away from stress.

Question- Why should common people also take training in giving CPR?
answer- Dr. Tanmai Yermal Jain says that crisis can happen anytime in life. God forbid that something like this suddenly happens to someone you love. In such a situation, if you have knowledge about CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and know how to give it, then you can save someone’s life. In case of cardiac arrest, when someone is taken to the hospital, the first thing doctors do is give CPR. In 60 to 70 percent cases, the patient’s life is saved. Also it is not difficult at all. You just need to know its basic science and method of doing it.

Question- Where and how can we take training in giving CPR?
answer- This year, the Union Health Ministry has started a campaign to provide training in CPR to save the lives of patients. CPR training is being given in many institutions including hospitals, medical education centres, medical universities. UGC (University Grant Commission) has also asked to provide training in basic life support including CPR to the people with the help of doctors and medical experts in all the universities and colleges of the country.
If you also ask at your nearest hospital, you will come to know about many such centers in your city, where CPR training is given for free. Therefore, definitely learn this and always be ready to save someone’s life in trouble.
