She told that she had come to Mumbai with her boyfriend with the aim of earning name in films.
Neena Gupta told, ‘When I came to Mumbai, I came with my boyfriend at that time. We both came here for work. Both of us had no work. I used to work in Prithvi Cafe. I used to make bharta at night. We used to roam around that place so that some director would notice us. One day my ex-boyfriend, probably drunk, came and asked me, did you come here to become a waiter? I said at least I am working…you even ask me for money for your cigarettes. Thank God I didn’t get married.

Veteran actress Neena Gupta married America-based chartered accountant Vivek Mehra in 2008. The actress has a daughter, Masaba Gupta, with former West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards.
