Scientists have discovered a black hole in our universe, which is eating its matter very fast. This discovery has been made through data obtained from the world’s largest space telescope, James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) and Chandra X-ray Observatory. Usually, this black hole is doing so with a speed 40 times more than the speed with which black holes eat their material. This is called the Eddington limit. Julia Scharwachter, co-author of the study, said that this is like a feast for the black hole. This shows that black holes become massive very quickly by eating their material at a speed above the Eddington limit. This discovery shows that black holes are capable of exceeding their limits. They grow up in the initial phase by eating their matter in a very short time.

This black hole has been discovered in a distant galaxy. Earlier in the month of June, a team of NASA scientists had discovered a giant black hole, which is ‘throwing powerful beams of particles into space’. Its ability to fire beams and change targets to aim at any other celestial target has drawn comparisons of the black hole to the planet-killing Death Star in Star Wars.
