Vikrant Massey once worked in the TV serial Balika Vadhu.

Actor Vikrant Massey is in the news these days because of his upcoming film The Sabarmati Report. The film will be released on November 15. Vikrant has talked to Dainik Bhaskar before the release of the film. Vikrant talked about his struggle during the interview.

Vikrant said that he started as a TV actor. When he was moving from TV to films, he was looked at with inferiority complex. It was said that you are a TV actor, you will never get lead roles in films. Apart from Vikrant, the film’s lead actresses Riddhi Dogra and Raashi Khanna also spoke on this issue.

We used to say on our face – We only make films with stars. Vikrant said, ‘I was told that you are a TV actor, you will never be able to become a hero in films. Big studios used to say that we only make films with stars. We can’t give you the lead role. At that time I used to leave peacefully.

Today, even the biggest superstars are stuck on TV as judges in reality shows, singing shows and dance shows. They also know that even today there is no bigger medium than TV. However, when an actor from the same TV goes among them asking for work, he is looked down upon.

Shahrukh, Irrfan and Om Puri were also TV actors, they should be seen Vikrant further said- Why are people who work in films and then come on TV, not called TV actors? If you look at it, he also works in TV 5 days a week. Those who look down on TV actors should once look at the likes of Shahrukh Khan, Irrfan Khan and Om Puri Sahab. All these legends used to work on television at one time.

Because of Ekta Kapoor, people got four houses each. Riddhi Dogra said- I have also been a TV actress. My friends still say that there is a stigma on us of being a TV actor. I also understand this, but never discuss it. I don’t want to give any emotion to people who don’t understand the capabilities of TV actors.

You look at Ekta Kapoor once. I think hardly anyone would have given as much work as he has given to outsiders. Because of him, people have built four houses each.

Rashi Khanna said- Well, I have not worked in TV, still I can understand the issue of discrimination. However, we have people like Vikrant Massey and Riddhi Dogra for example. These people have come from TV and have made a different place in films. Artists who want to move from TV to films should watch the journey of these two and learn from it.
