Recently Ranbir Kapoor became a part of the 55th International Film Festival. During this, he talked to Rahul Rawail about Indian cinema and its legacy and also answered many questions. During this time, a reporter talked to him about the film Animal and the negativity related to it. He was told that films like Animal have a bad impact on the society, on which Ranbir also agreed.
When a reporter asked Ranbir about the negative portrayal of heroes in his films like Sanju and Animal, earlier there used to be songs and villains in films, but now in films it is shown that everything is achieved through violence. Such films have a bad impact on the society.
In response to this Ranbir Kapoor said, I agree with you. I feel that as an actor, it is our duty to bring such films which bring positive change in the society. But I am an actor and it is important to do different types of characters. But what you are saying is also absolutely right. We should pay attention to what kind of films we are making.
Let us tell you that the Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Trupti Dimri starrer film Animal, released in the year 2023, was a blockbuster hit. The film had a box office collection of Rs 900 crore. However, the violence shown in this film and the status of women were heavily criticized. Many celebs also strongly condemned it and called it an anti-women film. Because Ranbir’s character was seen misbehaving with women in many scenes in the film.
Some time back, Ranbir Kapoor had given the reason for signing the film in an interview given to Nikhil Kamat. He had said, in my career I have always been doing such films which give a message to the society. When I heard the story of Animal for the first time, I was scared. I thought this was completely opposite to my characters so far. To experiment with this image of mine, I said yes to the film.
