This time the success story is of actor Anil Charanjeet.
First watch this scene..
There was controversy over this scene of Aamir Khan’s film PK. The character seen in the guise of Lord Shiva was shown running away in fear. Even the actor who was dressed as Shiva was said to be upside down.
That actor was none other than Anil Charanjeet. Today in Success Story we will tell their success story.
Anil Charanjit did a role of a few minutes in PK, but later he got big roles in many films.
He has appeared in many films of Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Rohit Shetty. Apart from this, he also had an important role in the web series Sacred Games.
Anil Charanjit, who came from a middle class family, also sold tickets in theaters during the days of struggle. When he came to Mumbai, he took admission in Subhash Ghai’s acting school. However, there was an issue of fees. Then the guest lecturer there, Naseeruddin Shah, had waived his fees for one semester.
One day veteran film maker Subhash Ghai collided in the lift. After that day Anil’s luck changed.
Anil Charanjeet’s success story ahead, in his own words..
Failed twice in 11th, was made fun of in school I am a resident of Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh. In childhood, I used to dance during Ganpati and Durga Puja. Used to get 400 to 500 rupees every year. I was very bad in studies. There was a lot of beating for not studying.
Failed twice in 11th. My juniors were now seniors. I was made fun of in school. The challenge before me was to pass 12th by any means. I worked very hard and somehow passed with 57 percent marks.
The family members were not ready to send him out Apart from cricket, I was also fond of dancing and acting since childhood. I just couldn’t say this in front of anyone. My elder brother was sent out of the house to study. I also wanted to go out, but my family wanted something else. He believed that I should stay at home and look after the business with my father.
Cried after watching Akshay Kumar-Big B’s film, then decided to act I also sat with my father at the shop for some time. However, he used to play guitar more than work inside the shop. Papa used to get irritated by this thing. One day, I was watching Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Waqt’ while sitting with my family. This film was based on father-son relationship and acting. After watching the movie I started crying. That day I told everyone that now I will make a career in acting.
I told my father not to stay at home anymore. Then went to Pune to pursue graduation. He used to visit FTII (Film and Television Institute) there. Wanted to take admission there. Once I passed the written test, however I lagged behind in the audition.
Anil is very fond of biking. They travel within the country and abroad and then go bike riding there.
Worked as a ticket seller in INOX Meanwhile, he also started trying his hand in business to earn money. However, there was no pulse there for a long time. Then I started working as a ticket seller in INOX (theatre chain). The salary there was Rs 3500. I worked there for 6 months. Every week we got a free ticket. Aamir Khan’s film Rang De Basanti was released. I went to watch that movie. He was so impressed after watching the film that he left his job.
Took admission in Subhash Ghai’s acting school, but faced difficulty in paying fees. After leaving the job of ticket seller, the aim now was to get work in films somehow. I had now come to Mumbai. After coming to Mumbai, I came to know that Subhash Ghai runs an acting school named Whistling Wood International. However, I was shocked to hear the fees there. The total fee was Rs 12 lakh.
It was difficult to arrange so much money. At that time my brother helped me a lot. He arranged the money and got me admitted, but we could not pay the fees in the third semester. The situation came to the point of leaving the course.
Somehow this news reached Subhash Ghai and Naseeruddin Shah (who were teachers there). I was a bright student of the institute. The management knew this. He refused at first but later waived my fees.
Whistling Wood International is located in Film City, Mumbai. It is counted among the best acting schools.
Used to roam around with CD in his pocket to get work While doing acting course, I used to carry a CD cassette with me. There were some short videos of my acting in that cassette.
I used to think that if I ever meet Subhash Ghai ji, I will show him a sample of my work. Finally one day this came. Subhash Ghai ji and I collided in the lift one day. I gave him my CD and said that sir, whenever you have time, you will definitely watch it once.
The fever subsided after listening to Subhash Ghai’s voice. Six months after meeting Subhash Ghai, I got a call from his office. It was told that Subhash Ghai wanted to meet me. I had 102 degree fever that day, but as soon as I heard this the fever went away. I immediately took the auto and went to his house. Subhash ji asked, Anil, do you know Punjabi? I said- Yes sir, she is coming. Then he said- and dance? I said that I also know dancing.
Then he said let’s give you work in a film. Then he offered me the film Hello Darling. In this way I entered the world of acting.
Now this has happened, from Anil’s childhood till he got his first film. Now let us know how his career progressed.. Anil had made his debut with Hello Darling, but he got his real identity from the film Hasee Toh Phasee. His character in this film starring Siddharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra was very much liked.
Went to a birthday party, got an offer for the film PK there. Anil once went to the birthday party of the industry’s famous casting director Mukesh Chhabra. Sushant Singh Rajput was also present there. Mukesh told Charanjeet that there is a film audition tomorrow, come. He did not tell the story, just said that this is Rajkumar Hirani’s film and your scene is with Aamir Khan.
Anil’s happiness knew no bounds after hearing the names of Hirani and Aamir. The next day the audition took place, in which he was selected.
Don’t play the role of real Shiva, even if you get Rs 1 crore On the controversy over the film, Anil said, ‘My character was that of a theater artist, who appeared in the drama in the guise of Shiv ji. If I had actually got the role of Shivji and in that role I was shown running away out of fear, I would not have done it. Even if Rajkumar Hirani would have given me one crore rupees for this.
After PK, Anil seemed to have a queue of films. She worked with Rohit Shetty in the film Golmaal Again. Singh was also seen in Is Bling with Akshay Kumar. He also had an important role in Shershaah. His role in Akshay Kumar’s film Sarfira, released this year, was highly praised.
Rohit Shetty is also a fan of his acting, made a separate role for him The reel CD of Anil which Subhash Ghai had seen was also seen by Rohit Shetty. While making Golmaal Again, he asked his manager to call Anil.
Anil says, ‘Rohit Shetty’s manager said that there is no role for you in Golmaal Again, but Rohit sir wants you to assist the star cast of the film in acting. I went and started assisting the actors. Rohit sir liked my acting a lot. He made a separate roll for me.
Father was accommodated in a luxury hotel for the first time, shown a vanity van. Anil was a part of many films in his career. However, a film about which the audience might know little, is quite special for them. The name of the film is Badmashiyan. Actually, Anil’s father had come to the set during the shooting of this film. Anil had accommodated him in a luxury hotel.
Anil’s father came from a humble background. He was very happy to see the amenities of the hotel. Anil also took him in his vanity van. At that time there was a feeling of satisfaction in his eyes. He felt very happy to see that his son has now become successful.
Anil said, ‘My father is no longer in this world. 2-3 months before his passing, he called me and asked for money for the EMI of the car. I had transferred 40 thousand rupees to him. I felt very good by helping my father financially for the first time.
Saying this, Anil Charanjeet started crying.
Remembering his father, Anil became emotional and started crying.
