Shruti Haasan has recently talked about the divorce of her parents Kamal Haasan and Sarika. He told how after his parents’ divorce, he understood the meaning of being financially independent. He said that the parents had tried hard to live together before separating.

The actress further said- ‘It was only after my parents’ separation that I understood the meaning of being financially independent. At that moment I realized why everyone should be financially independent. When I looked at my mother, I felt that as a daughter I should be financially independent. It is very difficult to take any decision, but it is even more difficult when you are dependent on someone.

Many years ago, in a conversation with Simi Garewal, Kamal Haasan had told that he and Sarika first met in 1984 during the shooting of the film ‘Raj Tilak’. First there was a good friendship between the two and then this friendship turned into love. After this, both of them got married in the year 1988. However, two years before the marriage, Sarika gave birth to daughter Shruti. Before marriage, she was in a live-in relationship with Kamal Haasan.
Both of them got divorced in 2004
Kamal and Sarika got divorced in the year 2004. Both have two daughters Shruti and Akshara Haasan. After divorce, Sarika entered the world of TV.
She was last seen in the film Salaar on 22 December 2023.
