India’s first Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar has been honored with the Arjuna Award. On this occasion, he expressed gratitude to the makers of the film ‘Chandu Champion’. Actually, Kartik Aryan played the character of Murlikant Petkar in this film, which was made under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.
Speaking on the occasion, Murlikant Petkar said, ‘I am really happy and very grateful to receive the prestigious Arjuna Lifetime Award. This honor is not just an individual achievement, but is a testament to the efforts and trust of a group of many good individuals. I would like to sincerely thank Sajid Nadiadwala, who not only believed in my story but also brought it to the big screen through the film Chandu Champion.
I also want to thank Kabir Khan and Kartik Aryan, who took my story to the people in a very good way. This moment is as much mine as it is theirs. I am really grateful to the entire Chandu Champion team who made this film and inspired many people in the country through my story.
Who is Murlikant Petkar?
Murlikant Petkar has been a part of the Indian Army. He was hit by 9 bullets in the India-Pakistan war in 1965. His condition became so bad during this war that he was paralyzed from the waist down. He was not even in a position to walk. However, even after all this, he did not stop. He won the title of India’s first Paralympic swimmer in 1972.
