New Delhi: The original version of the film ‘Sholay’ was never released in theatres, but on people’s demand it was shown on satellite channels. People also liked the original version of ‘Sholay’, the ending of which the director had to change due to the obstruction of the Censor Board. Ramesh Sippy wanted Gabbar Singh to be killed by Thakur instead of being arrested by the police.
The Censor Board had objections to the ending of ‘Sholay’, due to which the film was in trouble. He said that if we show a hero taking the law into his own hands and not being punished for it, then it will promote wrong values among the audience. As a result, director Ramesh Sippy had to re-shoot the climax scene of ‘Sholay’ to get the U certificate.
The Censor Board also had objections to the last scene of the film ‘Sholay’, which included footage of the fight between Gabbar Singh and Thakur. In this scene, Thakur kicks Gabbar Singh very violently. After killing Gabbar Singh, Thakur (Sanjeev Kumar) hugs Veeru (Dharmendra) and cries. This scene of the film is so sensitive that the audience can become emotional after watching it. According to the IMDb report, the director also had to remove the scene where dacoit Gabbar Singh is seen brutally torturing Ahmed (Sachin Pilgaonkar) by holding his hair. The Censor Board had also removed this scene from the original version of the film.
When Dharmendra wanted to become Gabbar Singh
Even after 5 decades of the release of ‘Sholay’, viewers like to watch it on TV. When it was re-released in theaters some time ago, a large number of people reached the theatre. Each and every dialogue of this is stuck in the minds of the audience. The film was released on 15 August 1975, in which stars like Dharmendra, Hema Malini, Sanjeev Kumar, Amjad Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri played the lead roles. The script of the film was written by Salim-Javed. The interesting thing about the film is that Dharmendra initially wanted to play the role of Thakur Baldev Singh, but when the director told him that if he played this role, Sanjeev Kumar would get the role of Veeru and he would get the heroine. Dharmendra did not want this. He again played the role of Veeru.

If that amazing scene of ‘Sholay’ had not been deleted, the climax would have been even more lively.
