Attack on Saif: 25 lakh approval came in a few minutes, health insurance company surrounded

Cashless insurance of Rs 25 lakh was received for the treatment of Saif.

Saif Ali Khan Attack News: Many types of questions are being raised about the attack on Bollywood superstar Saif Ali Khan and after that. Soon after Saif’s treatment started, his insurance company gave him approval for treatment of Rs 25 lakh. Now questions are being raised about how to get approval for such a huge amount soon and for such a huge amount. Regarding this, the Medical Consultant Association (AMC) has written a letter to the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), questioning the immediate approval of Rs 25 lakh for Saif’s cashless treatment at Lilavati Hospital. The association says that it seems that Saif is a celebrity, so the company treated him specially. While the general policy holders are not treated like this.

The Times of India has published a report about this. Talking to the newspaper, a senior surgeon said that Saif’s cashless claim was approved of ₹ 25 lakh within four hours of applying by the hospital. Such a large amount and such a rapid acceptance is less seen in the health sector. He also informed that most policyholders get an approval of ₹ 50,000 initially. Another doctor said that insurance clearance takes a lot of time in medical-legal cases.

Cashless treatment
According to the AMC letter, the phenomenon exposes a worrying tendency, which provides more facilities and high cashless treatment limitations to patients with celebrity and high-profile individuals or corporate policies, while ordinary citizens get inadequate coverage and low rebels. Such practices generate inequality and weaken the principle of availability of equal health care.

Dr. Sudhir Naik, head of Medicoligal Cell of AMC, said that we are not against corporate hospitals or celebrities, we want ordinary patients to get the same treatment which is found in big hospitals. He requested IRDA to investigate the incident and ensure that all policyholders get equal treatment despite their social status.

The association also said that they demand more transparency in the acceptance process. Members of AMC who run nursing homes, either their patients are unable to give cashless options or provide this option at very low rates. TPA and insurance companies have created such a situation that a policyholder pays lakhs of rupees in a corporate hospital for the same process by the same surgeon, but this cost is reduced in the nursing home. An AMC member who runs a nursing home, said that this is a way to eliminate cheap nursing home options for patients.
