Google Pixel 8 series smartphones sold in the Indian market will now be made within the country. The company said in a post that the first batch of “Made-in-India” Pixel 8 series smartphones will hit stores soon.
The company announced this in October 2023. The company’s supply partner Foxconn has started trial production in the second quarter. Now Google Pixel 8 smartphones will be available in Indian stores.
Google is assembling its phones under the central government’s Production Linked Initiative scheme. Before Google, Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, and OnePlus already manufacture their smartphones in India.
Google in its X post thanked Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav for his support from the Government of India to assemble Pixel smartphones in India.
Google Pixel 8 Series: Specifications
- Pixel 8 has a 6.2-inch Super Actua display, which is 42% brighter than the Pixel 7 display. On the other hand, Pixel 8 Pro has a 6.7-inch Super Actua display based on LTPO OLED panel. It has a peak brightness of 2,400 nits.
- The Pixel 8 has a variable refresh rate of 60Hz to 120Hz. The Pixel 8 Pro also has a 120Hz variable refresh rate. Refresh rate means how fast the screen processes new information.
- Google claims that the facial recognition technology in Pixel 8 and 8 Pro has been improved with new algorithms and upgraded hardware. Google has also introduced software enhancements. This has improved voice typing and other things.
- Google has also worked on the battery in its new phones. Pixel 8 has a 4,485mAh battery while Pixel 8 Pro has a 5,050mAh battery. It also supports fast charging. The phone gets charged 50% in 30 minutes.
Pixel phones have 50 megapixel cameras
Google Pixel 8 has a 50 megapixel and 12 megapixel main camera and a 10.5MP front camera. At the same time, the company has provided 50MP + 48MP + 48MP rear camera and 10.5MP front camera in Pixel 8 Pro. Both Google smartphones have the same primary sensor.
Google claims faster autofocus across the entire camera experience, especially in low-light conditions. Camera software features include Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Night Sight, Top Shot, and more. Both phones will get the Tensor G3 processor.
