Aadhaar card is a unique ID that is needed for every work these days. Whether it is booking a train or flight ticket or proving your identity, Aadhaar card is asked for first everywhere. Aadhaar card not only contains personal information related to our identity, but it is also not possible to avail the benefits of many government schemes without Aadhaar.
But some people have incorrect important information like name, date of birth or address in their Aadhaar card, which requires spending money to correct and update their Aadhaar card.
But now you can get your Aadhaar card updated for free without any cost till 14th September.
Actually, according to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), you can update your Aadhaar card for free till September 14, 2024. After this, you will have to pay a fee of Rs 50 to update Aadhaar on the UIDAI portal. This free service is available only on the UIDAI portal.
UIDAI has started this initiative especially for those people who got their Aadhaar card made 10 years ago and have not updated it even once till now.

Question- Why is it necessary to update information in Aadhaar card?
answer- There are many benefits of keeping the Aadhaar card updated. Such as-
- It is easy to open a bank account or avail the benefits of government schemes.
- There is no problem in getting PAN card, passport, voter ID card or ration card made.
- It is easy to verify the identity of a person.
- The risk of being scammed or fraudulent is less.
Question- Which documents are required to update Aadhaar card?
answer- According to UIDAI, if you want to update your Aadhaar card, then two documents are very important. First, any identity card and second, address proof. See the details in the graphic below-
Question- What kind of information is there in Aadhar Card?
answer- There are two types of information in the Aadhaar card. First is biometric details and second is demographic details.
Biometric details include information such as thumb impression, iris of the eyes, while demographic details include information such as name, address, date of birth. Cardholders can make changes in both of these due to different reasons. For example, if there is a mistake in the spelling of the name or women can change their surname or address after marriage.
Apart from this, with increasing age, there may be a change in the fingerprints i.e. biometric marks of children, which can also be updated in the Aadhaar card.
Question- How can I update my Aadhaar card online?
answer- If you want to update your Aadhaar card from your mobile or laptop sitting at home, then first of all you have to login to the UIDAI website.
Apart from this, you should have a scanned copy of your identity card and address proof, which will have to be attached before submitting the form. Keep in mind that these documents should be in PDF, JPEG, or PNG format only and their size should be less than 2 MB. Your Aadhaar card will be updated within a few days of submitting your details and documents.

answer- You cannot update your biometric information i.e. finger print or iris scan online on UIDAI’s portal. For this, you will have to contact the nearest Aadhaar enrolment centre or Aadhaar service centre.

Question: What will happen if the Aadhaar card holder forgets his Aadhaar number?
answer- Often many people forget their Aadhaar card somewhere and do not remember the Aadhaar number. In such a situation, they can download their e-Aadhaar card online. For this, the cardholder has to follow these steps.
step 1: First of all go to the UIDAI website.
Step 2: After this, enter your name, mobile number and captcha code registered in the Aadhar card.
Step 3: Go and click on the ‘Send OTP’ button.
Step 4: As soon as you enter the OTP, you will get information related to your Aadhaar.
Step 5: After this you can download the Aadhar card.
Apart from this, Aadhaar card holders can also get their Aadhaar number by calling 1947. In this, you will have to give correct answers to the questions asked by the customer.
