New Delhi: Filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar has been accused of misappropriation of funds by Vashu Bhagnani and Jacky Bhagnani. Ali Abbas Zafar has directed ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ under the banner of Pooja Entertainment. Vashu and Jacky Bhagnani have accused Ali Abbas Zafar of allegedly embezzling subsidy money taken from Abu Dhabi authorities during the shooting of ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’. The complaint against Ali Abbas Zafar was reportedly filed on September 3 and the director may soon be summoned by the Bandra police in Mumbai as part of the investigation into the case.

In their complaint, Jackie and Vashu Bhagnani have accused Ali Abbas Zafar of cheating them of Rs 9.50 crore and have accused him of ‘extortion, blackmailing, threats, harassment, defamation and money laundering’. The complaint states that Ali Abbas Zafar has used this fund through a shell company in Abu Dhabi.

Ali Abbas Zafar has also made the allegation
Ali Abbas Zafar had also accused Jackie and Vashu Bhagnani of not paying his fees of Rs 7.30 crore for directing ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’. According to a Dainik Bhaskar report, Ali Abbas Zafar has filed an official complaint with the Directors Association asking them to intervene. The Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE) sent a letter to Vashu Bhagnani after the complaint, asking for the reason for not paying the dues.

Big tension after the flop of ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’
Pooja Entertainment denied Ali Abbas Zafar’s claims and issued a statement to put forth its point. Talking about ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, the original film was directed by David Dhawan. It starred Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda in lead roles and was released in 1998. On the other hand, the new ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ stars Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in the lead roles. However, when the film hit the theatres in April this year, it was rejected by audiences and critics. Ali Abbas Zafar has not yet given any successful film after parting ways with Yash Raj Films.
