After finishing school, got enrolled in engineering. From there he got interested in acting. Did theater in Bhopal. Then I had to come to Mumbai. In a bid to prove himself, he worked in the web series Gandii Baat, but it backfired. The family members stopped talking. The industry also put them in the same rut.
Anveshi worked hard to change her image. Worked a lot on acting and singing. His hard work paid off. Today he has many projects. As an actress, she is going to be seen in the Kannada film Martin. Apart from this, he is also a part of Telugu films.
The story of the investigator in his own words.
Due to physical appearance, family members used to ask to live in salwar-kameez. I come from a conservative family with old ideas. Both mother and father are professors. In my house, girls were always told to behave properly.
Since childhood, my body structure was such that I had to face a lot of problems compared to other girls. My family felt that people would notice me first, that is why they always asked me to remain covered in salwar-kameez.
Interest in acting arose after watching the film Titanic Once saw the Hollywood movie Titanic on TV. I don’t know what happened after that day that I suddenly became interested in films. From that day onwards she started dreaming of becoming a heroine.
I thought that if I came into films and made a name for myself, then maybe I would start getting the respect I never got. Although the mind was always apprehensive. She wondered how a girl who was not allowed to step out of the house without a dupatta, would be able to work in the film world.
Started wearing jeans top after going to engineering college Amidst all this, I went to Bhopal to pursue engineering. He used to get pocket money of three thousand rupees from home. In this, work had to be done for the whole month. After coming to engineering college, I felt some freedom. Here I sometimes used to wear jeans top. Meanwhile, I joined theater in Bhopal itself.
Anveshi has done B.TECH from an engineering college in Bhopal.
Family members used to pressurize her for marriage, to save herself she went to do MBA. After coming to the second year, I felt that I would not be able to do a job. Now the family members were also lagging behind regarding the marriage. To avoid marriage, she went to Indore to pursue MBA. However, his studies could not be completed there.
In between, I decided to do business. By cutting my stomach, eating tea and biscuits, I set up the business of interior designing. The money I got from home for fees was also invested in it. My work started going well there. However, when my family members came to know about this, their anger was worth seeing.
The house where she lived caught fire, came to Mumbai with Rs 1800 After trying my hand in business, I started anchoring at events. I wanted to develop speaking skills through this. I started getting offers for hosting small and big events. Good income was earned from there also.
However one day something happened that changed everything. The house where I lived in Indore caught fire. All my clothes, essential items, papers and some money were burnt to ashes. After this incident I decided that I don’t want to live here anymore. Within two weeks I left Madhya Pradesh and came to Mumbai with only Rs 1800.
Looked fat on camera, felt like I wasn’t ready yet After coming to Mumbai, she started living in an acquaintance’s house. They had only a one-room house, but they kept me very well. As soon as I came to Mumbai, I started giving auditions. However, after one or two auditions, I felt that I was not ready yet. She was looking very fat on camera, and her acting was also not at that level. The condition was so bad that I could not cast myself, what would anyone else do?
Frustrated, I called my acting coach. He said that son, you are dreaming big but are not able to work hard accordingly. This thing showed me the mirror. I stopped giving auditions for some time and made a chart of 90 days. Worked a lot on my body and skills in these 90 days. After this, when I auditioned again, I got selected.
Hearing the name of Balaji production, she came to audition and came to know that she has been selected in the adult web series. I got selected in the audition, but did not know which show I was going to get. Later it was revealed that it was an audition for the adult web series Gandii Baat. I had come to audition after hearing the name of Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji production.
Then I started imagining what my father would think if I worked in this show. They didn’t even want to see me in jeans and top, then what would be the reaction if they saw me in this show.
Started crying during the shooting, co-actors said – you have to do it otherwise you will be boycotted I was confused about working in this show. I couldn’t understand what to do. I talked to some of my people. He said that such opportunities do not come again and again, you should do this show. Then I put a condition before the production people that my scene should not be with any boy. Anyway, my scene was kept with the girl.
I started feeling very uncomfortable during the shooting. I couldn’t understand what I was doing. For a few moments I felt as if I was selling my body. I went to the side of the set and started crying.
I told my co-actors that I would not be able to do all this. He said that if you leave this show midway, you will be boycotted from the industry. Hearing this, I was left with no option but to complete the show.
Anveshi (left) definitely got recognition from Alt Balaji’s show Gandii Baat-2, but due to this she also had to face a lot of criticism.
People said- what a mistake your daughter is making, relatives started avoiding her Later its (dirty talk) clip started going viral. My family started being ridiculed in my hometown. Some journalist friends who worked with father used to say – You are a very gentleman, but look at your daughter, what a beauty she is.
When brother said- You are famous because of your body
I really liked one thing about my younger brother who supported me at every turn of my life. One day we had a fight. He said angrily, “Do you think you are famous because of your talent?” You are recognized only because of your body.
Hearing this from my brother, it seemed as if everything was over. Although he definitely regretted it later.
Then I thought – don’t work in such shows again After doing ‘Gandii Baat’ I thought that I will never do such shows again. Many times I used to get blank cheques. They used to say, take whatever money you want, just work in our show. They were all adult shows, so I kept refusing them. During the lockdown, I had refused more than 50 shows.
Only one type of roles were available, still I did not stop working. I kept getting only one type of roles for two years. In a way, I was typecast. However, I did not stop working hard. Gradually the time came when people started giving more importance to acting than my body.
I sang the cover version of the song Rata Lambiya from the film Shershaah, due to which I got a lot of exposure. Shershaah director Vishnuvardhan sir also praised me. If I had met him earlier, perhaps I would have been able to sing the original song.
After this I worked in a Gujarati film, which was a blockbuster. Debuted with Telugu film ‘Commitment’. Made a cameo in Ravi Teja’s film Rama Rao On Duty. Currently, one of my Kannada films, Martin, is about to be released.
Apart from this, I have given many TED talks and also work as a motivational speaker. Had also taken father once. Seeing me speaking in front of so many people, perhaps their mentality towards me must have changed a bit.
Punjabi singer said- keep the saree, I want to see you in it Once upon a time. I was practicing for one and a half months for a song with a famous Punjabi singer. Was happy that she was getting a chance to work with such a great singer. We had to go to Chandigarh for the recording of the song. Before leaving he said that you should keep two pairs of sarees in your bag. I want to see you in saree personally.
As soon as I heard this, I said that if you had said this earlier, I would not have worked with you. The same singer messaged me apologizing after two years.
An artist’s looks should not come in the way of success.
Anveshi said at the end of the interview – I want that the famous film makers and directors of the industry should give priority to the acting skills of the artists more than their looks. Open your doors to people who are outsiders or have no control over them.
I believe that looks should not come in the way of any artist’s success. If this happens then it is harmful for both the industry and the artist.
