Apple Issues Warning to Users in 98 Countries of Mercenary Spyware

American devices maker Apple has warned users in many countries about the attack of mercenary spyware. The company had also given a similar alert in April. This threat notification has been sent to iPhone users in 98 countries. Apple has asked users to take additional steps to protect their devices.

These users have been warned that their smartphones may be attacked by spyware. Company The email sent by said, “Apple has discovered that a mercenary spyware attack is being carried out which can remotely harm your iPhone.” The company has advised these users to update to Apple’s new operating system – iOS 17.5.1. Along with this, users have been asked to enable the built-in lockdown mode, which can reduce the impact of the attack. The company’s support document also warns users that Apple’s threat notification emails do not include clickable links, nor are users asked to install apps or download files.

Apple’s iPhone 16 series may be launched soon. The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max of this series may have higher wired and MagSafe wireless charging speeds than the iPhone 15 Pro models introduced last year. According to a report by ITHome, the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will support 40 W wired charging and 20 W wireless charging using MagSafe. The iPhone 15 series featured a USB Type-C port. However, both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro had support for a peak charging speed of 27 W with a compatible USB charger.

The company’s iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max can be given a tetraprism 5x zoom lens. Apple used this lens in the iPhone 15 Pro Max introduced last year. According to a report by DigitTimes in Asia, the company plans to increase the use of periscope lenses in the upcoming iPhone 16 series. Because of this, some suppliers of this lens have been given more orders for them.
