American devices and technology company Apple had misused its strong position in the market of apps on its iOS operating system. An investigation by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) has found that the company was adopting unfair business practices in the app market.

This information has been given in a confidential report of CCI. This report has been seen by Reuters. CCI has been investigating this matter for almost three years. However, Apple had denied this. The company had said that there are a large number of Google’s Android smartphones in the country and it does not have a big share in this market. CCI’s report has not been made public. However, this 142-page report has been seen by CCI. It says that the company had a big influence on how digital products and services reach consumers. For this, the company uses its iOS platform and App Store.

According to this report, “Apple’s App Store is an important trading partner for app developers. Because of this, app developers have no choice but to accept the company’s unfair terms. These terms include using Apple’s proprietary billing and payment system. The company’s iOS platform is essential from the point of view of app developers.” Apple and CCI did not respond to the request sent for comment in this regard.

Similar allegations have been leveled against Apple in some other countries as well. Last month, regulators in the European Union said that the company has violated tech rules. Due to this, iPhone maker Apple can be fined heavily. The company is also facing an investigation regarding the new fees imposed on app developers. Recently, Apple warned users in many countries about mercenary spyware attacks. A similar alert was given by the company in April as well. This threat notification has been sent to iPhone users in 98 countries. Apple has asked users to take additional steps to protect their devices.
