Mumbai. Bollywood’s tragedy king Dilip Kumar fell in love with a Bollywood beauty who was 22 years younger than him. This beauty is none other than the famous Hindi film industry actress Saira Banu. Born on 23 August 1944, Saira is 80 years old today. Today, Saira may not be seen on screen, but she stays connected with her fans through social media. She takes them back to the past by sharing memories of her ‘Dilip sahab’ and the past. She entered the film industry at the age of just 17.

Saira Bano is included in the list of top actresses of the 60s and 70s, who were at the top and charged the highest fees. Saira spent her childhood in London, later she came to India. Since childhood, she dreamt of becoming an actress, which she fulfilled with her hard work. As soon as she entered Bollywood, she started liking Bollywood’s tragedy king Dilip Kumar in her heart.

Dilip Kumar was 44 years old at that time, but age doesn’t matter when one falls in love. Their love blossomed and they got married on 11 October 1966. At that time Saira was 22 and Dilip Kumar was 44 years old. Saira had shared a very interesting anecdote related to her husband on Instagram. She had told that she was a ‘sleeping pill’ for her husband.

Saira Banu wrote in her long post- ‘Sahab (Dilip Kumar) was an all-time great actor. Everything was available to him, yet not many people know that he had severe insomnia. Before our marriage, even after taking medicine, he used to stay awake till morning.’

Saira Banu further wrote, “However, once we got married and it became difficult for us to live without each other, he started sleeping on time. He also gave me a cute nickname, lovingly saying, ‘Saira, you are my sleeping pill, you are my pillow.’ I still laugh remembering the love with which he used to say this.”
