The report said that Starlink had requested to give exemption in certain conditions till the application for this was approved, but the government refused to give any exemption to foreign companies. No foreign company has been licensed for satellite internet service by DOT.

Starlinks in the country may get a competition with Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio. Both these telecom companies also plan to launch this service. This spectrum can be allocated by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (DOT) in the next few months. Recently Bharti Enterprises reported that it is ready to start the satellite telecom service. She is waiting for the approval of the central government for this service. The company had said that two of its stations are ready in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.
