Everyone wants to live a long life, but our lifestyle is such that it is making us prematurely old and sick. In today’s lifestyle, people have to face many challenges, which have a negative impact on their health and age. Like sleeping late every day and not being able to wake up early, eating junk food and processed food, consuming too much sugar, not doing any exercise, always being stressed about work and having an extremely busy life.
According to a survey by the United Nations’ Department of Economic and Social Affairs, India’s current life expectancy in 2024 is 70.62 years. That means Indians live for about 70 years on average. This is less than the life expectancy of other countries. There are many countries in the world where people live long and healthy lives. After all, what is so special in his life? What are those things that bless them with a long healthy life?

70-80% of longevity is related to our lifestyle.
According to a study by the National Institutes of Health published in the National Library of Medicine, longevity is only 20% to 30% related to our genetic design. The remaining 70% to 80% depends on our lifestyle. That is, it really depends on the way we live our life, how long and happy life we will live.
In our youth we do not pay any attention to our daily routine. Eating fast food like burgers, momos, maggi, pizza, using mobile for hours, watching reels, playing games, not spending time with family and then getting tired quickly. This kind of lifestyle has a very negative impact on our health. Its effect is visible on our health after years.

Psychologist Dr. Zafar Khan says that the stress of urban life, competition and loneliness are some of the negative aspects of modernity. We need to think and work about these. Such as-
- There is too much stress and workload in life.
- People live in different cities away from family.
- There is a lack of real, deep friendships in life.
- There is more competition and less harmony in the office.
- People are living an isolated life in their homes.
- Many times even neighbors in metropolitan cities do not know their neighbors.
- Due to increase in nuclear family, family support is not available.

Nowadays people do not have anyone to express their views or express their pain. They suffer from loneliness and stress due to not being able to find love, support and companionship.
Psychologist Dr. Zafar Khan says that due to loneliness you may feel isolated from others. This affects both mental and physical health. The stress caused by loneliness can bother you. Physical symptoms like recurring bad thoughts, depression and body pain may also occur.
go crazy in the race to achieve success

Also, due to the workload and the constant race to do better than others, we are ignoring our health and mental health. We realize this only when it is too late.
There is less love and more jealousy in life.
Competition is increasing in office, family, society and life and jealousy is arising from it. Psychologist Dr. Zafar Khan says that we are not satisfied with what we have. The feeling of love, harmony and support in life is decreasing. This is very dangerous for life expectancy.
Aging is a disease and there is a cure for it
David A., professor of genetics at Harvard University. Sinclair has written a book – ‘Lifespan: Why We Age and Why We Don’t Have To.’ He has proposed a theory about why we age and how we can live longer. He argues that we can achieve longer life by changing our lifestyle. But for this we have to understand what is so special about those who live a long life.
‘Blue Zone’ i.e. where people live 100 years
‘Blue Zone’ countries are those where people live longer on average, some even up to 100 years. They live so long because they work hard, eat well, stay connected to nature and stay healthy. The lifestyle and eating habits in these countries are such that they promote longevity and health. Know where the ‘Blue Zones’ are in the graphic below.
How did these places get the name ‘Blue Zone’?
These places are called ‘Blue Zones’ because these areas were highlighted in blue ink on the map. There is an interesting story behind this. Once American author Dan Buettner was doing a research with demographer, Michel Poulain. They were identifying those areas on the map where people live more than 100 years. When he found these places, he highlighted them with the blue pen he was holding in his hand at that time. Since then those places were named ‘Blue Zone’.
