Countries Banned X: Elon Musk’s social media platform X, which was formerly Twitter, has been banned in Brazil. This ban has been imposed by the Supreme Court there. Not only this, users who download X will have to pay a fine. A heavier fine will be imposed for running X with the help of VPN (Virtual Private Network). Brazil is not the first country to ban ‘X’. This social media platform is banned in many countries of the world. Our neighboring country Pakistan is also included in these. Let’s know who else is included in the list.

Why was X banned in Brazil?

According to reports, the Supreme Court of Brazil has taken this action in the case of fake news. The court had given Musk’s company 24 hours to appoint an officer and present its side. The company did not do so, after which X was banned. Now in Brazil, a fine of 50 thousand reais (about Rs 7,47,465) can be imposed for using X.

X is banned in these countries too

China : China banned X in 2009 when it was Twitter. Anyway, apps from Western countries do not get a place in China. After the ban on X, domestic apps like Bibo and WeChat became popular there.

Iran : In 2009, Iran also banned Twitter. After the presidential elections held there, protests had intensified, due to which Twitter was banned.

Turkmenistan : Turkmenistan banned Twitter in 2010. Action was taken against many other foreign portals as well. There are also restrictions on internet usage in this country.

North Korea: X is banned in North Korea since 2016. The special thing is that the government there opened an account on X in 2010. Facebook is also banned in North Korea.

Myanmar : X has been banned in Myanmar since 2021. The army had banned X to suppress the voices of those opposing the coup there.

Russia : Russia limited access to X in the year 2021. However, people there are able to use it through VPN.

Pakistan : X has been banned in Pakistan since this year. Security reasons are cited behind this. Apart from this, X was also banned in Venezuela for 10 days, which is still continuing.
