China’s space agency surprised the whole world in June this year, when its Chang’e 6 lunar mission returned to Earth with samples from the far side of the Moon. The far side of the Moon is the place which is not visible from the Earth. China is going to lend the soil brought from the moon! This soil will be given to those researchers who want to do research. For this, Dragon has invited applications from researchers.

The Chang’e 6 mission was launched in May. It was a mission of 53 days. Chang E 6 collected samples by landing on Apollo Crater on the far side of the Moon. It returned to Earth in June. Quoting China’s space agency told It has been said that 4 pounds and 4.29 ounces i.e. about 1,935 grams of soil brought from the Moon is now available for home experiments.

Soil will be loaned to those applications which are approved. According to the report, before today no country has collected samples from the far side of the Moon. By studying these samples, new information about the Moon can be revealed. Scientists may find out why that area of the moon is so different.

At present these samples will be given for use only in China. After some time, applications can also be invited from international institutes. However it will take time. China has already brought samples from the moon. Its Chang’e 5 mission had collected samples from the main region of the Moon. After about 2 years of testing in our country, they were made available to the rest of the scientists in the world.

Why is this moon sample different?

Chang’e 6 mission is not the first mission that has brought samples from the Moon to Earth. Soviet Union and USA have done this work before. Then how is China’s mission different? In fact, the part of the Moon from which America and the Soviet Union collected samples is always focused towards the Earth. For the first time, any country has collected samples from that part of the Moon, which is never visible from the Earth.
