I was looking at myself in hotel business like a father. However, when my mind started in sports while studying, it was not known. I used to throw discus. In 1994, I also became the state level champion from Maharashtra at the discus throw event. Actually, my father was a businessman as well as an athlete himself. They used to do weight lifting. I used to be inspired by seeing them. However, he never wanted me to do weight lifting too. They knew that it could have a wrong effect on the body later.

Knees started to have pain, tears used to go out while playing

Dad advised me to go into athletics. I then started taking interest in discus throw and shotput. During the discus throw, there was a lot of pressure on the knees. My left knee started hurting. Whenever he throws, tears would come out of the eye due to pain. Then I decide that now it is not going to be a future in it. Till then Dad also started falling ill. He took over his hotel business for a few days. For many years, I also sat at the hotel counter.

I never had interest in acting, etc. Look at the coincidence, one day I went to the ad agency with my friend. My friend had to audition for modeling there. I was waiting for him standing outside. Then someone caught sight of me. He liked my look and height. He took some pictures of me. In a few hours, he selected me. In this way I got into modeling.

Similarly, there was a coincidence. My community kept a function. I gave my voice (Viceover) for the stage show there. People liked my voice very much. Someone advised to do theater. I was running empty at that time, so started doing theater. One day a person associated with CID’s production department arrived to see Santosh Shetty Play. He liked my work a lot. He offered me to join the CID team. I raised my hands that I would not be able to act in front of the camera. Nevertheless, Santosh Shetty forcefully called me for audition.

CID producer said- first do Hindi correct

I went to CID producer BP Singh. He gave me a three -page script. I spoke the dialogue by Ratta Jab there. BP Singh Ji said that South’s flavor is coming in your voice, read the beautiful stories, fix Hindi first. I folded my hands and said that Sir, I am of South, then the flavor of South will come. I just came to meet you, the rest I am not interested in work.

Used to stand behind in the show, did not get exposure

A month after BP Singh ji, I got a call from CID’s production team. He offered me the role of Cop in the show. I said yes with a lot of thought. I could not get that much exposure in the early days of the show. Ashutosh Gowariker (director) used to play a senior inspector at that time. However, there was an episode that established me as Inspector Daya.

Actually, producer BP Singh was making an episode keeping in mind Ashutosh Gowariker. This was the time when Ashutosh was planning the film Lagaan. BP Singh again called me for the same episode. He said that this episode will be focused only on you, would you like to do it? My father had passed a few days ago, my hair was also small. I could not understand anything. Still I said yes in front of them. The episode became a hit as soon as it was telecast. It gave a lot of TRP and I became the lead character on seeing it.

Four year old child is also a fan of mercy
