Competing with Tata Curve SUV-Coupe
Citroen has not disclosed the price of other variants. Bookings for the Basalt have been started. Customers can book it by paying a token amount of Rs 11,001 at the company’s dealership network in India and its official website.
In the segment, it will compete with Tata’s SUV-coupe Curve, but in the price segment, the car will also compete with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Tigun, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyrider, Skoda Kushaq and Honda Elevate.
Exterior design inspired by C3 and C3 Aircross
The new coupe SUV has been developed on the CMP platform, on which the company’s C3 hatchback and C3 Aircross SUV are based. The look of the car is inspired by the C3 and C3 Aircross. Its front has a chrome finish split grille and V-shaped split headlamp setup. Here you will get projector headlamps instead of halogen units. At the bottom, the square design elements of the air vent have been taken from the Aircross.
Talking about the side profile, it has a sloping roofline, square wheel arch, side body cladding and dual-tone alloy wheels. This makes the car look quite sporty. To give the SUV a coupe style, the rear profile has been given quite high and the boot lid has been positioned slightly above the bonnet. It also has a high bumper with wraparound LED taillamps and a silver skid plate.
The car will be available in 5 single tone and 2 dual tone color options. These include Polar White, Steel Grey, Platinum Grey, Cosmo Blue, Garnet Red, Polar White + Pearl Nera Black and Garnet Blue + Pearl Nera Black.
Citroen Basalt Coupe SUV: Interior design and features
The cabin of Basalt resembles that of C3 Aircross and even its dashboard is similar. It has dual digital display and similar AC vents. The company has provided white leatherette upholstery in the car. The rear seat of Basalt can be moved up to 87mm, which will provide better under thigh support.
The Basalt SUV Coupe has a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch digital driver display like the C3 Aircross. Apart from this, features like automatic climate control, cruise control, push button start/stop, keyless entry and wireless phone charging have also been provided in it.
