After the release, the film proved to be very successful at the box office. Apoorva Lakhia worked as an assistant director for Aamir Khan’s ‘Lagaan’. Recently he remembered the story during the shooting of this film. He said that due to the problem of slip disc, Ashutosh Gowariker had directed ‘Lagaan’ by lying on the bed.

During the interview with Friday Talkies, Apoorva Lakhia spoke openly about the film ‘Lagaan’. He told, ‘When Aamir was bored, he used to call chess champions from all over Gujarat on shooting and played with him during the break. There were also playing cards around there. People had to entertain themselves, right? Apoorva also mentioned the time when Ashutosh Gowariker was directing the ‘Lagaan’ by lying on the bed due to the problem of slip disc.

Ashutosh delayed the bed
He said, ‘If you see the pictures, then I was sitting next to Ashutosh Gowariker with Mike. I used to announce the one who used to speak Ashutosh. We were taking large -scale shots during Ashutosh’s medical emergency. Since we were not shooting such scenes, in which they had to go and talk directly to the actors. So we survived that difficulty. But yes, it took a little longer than our plan.

Shooting schedule increased by 220 days
Talking about the shooting schedule, Apoorva said that a film like ‘Lagaan’ is made only once. He said, ‘We had made a schedule of 80 days, but shooting went on for 300 days. There were many reasons for this, such as budget problems were also included. The shooting had stopped for two days. Meanwhile, Aamir arranged for funds. Then an animal died on the set and Maneka Gandhi’s team came to stop the shooting. We started shooting in very cold weather and continued even in very hot weather.

The song was shot at 56 degrees temperature
Apoorva Lakhia also revealed that Aamir and Gracie Singh’s song ‘O Re Chori’ was shot at 56 ° C temperatures. He said, ‘We could only shoot from 6 am to 10 am and from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm. If you were out in that summer, you could have died. it was impossible.’
