New Delhi: Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Dil-Luminati’ tour will run from October 21 to December 29. On the other hand, Coldplay’s concert will be held in Mumbai on 18-19 January next year. Tickets for these concerts are being sold illegally. The price of a ticket in the gray market is said to be Rs 1 lakh. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has raided 13 places in five cities and seized laptops and other digital devices due to the upcoming concert of Coldplay and Diljit Dosanjh. ED’s search operation is going on in Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Bengaluru.
ED’s action is aimed at investigating the illegal sale of tickets and the financial networks supporting these scams and to unearth the crime arising out of such illegal activities. During the search, ED identified many criminals who were carrying out wrongdoings through social media platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp and Telegram.
Concert tickets were sold out within minutes
Initiating investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) 2002, the ED on Friday conducted searches at multiple locations and seized incriminating material such as mobile phones, laptops and SIM cards used in the alleged scam, IANS quoted a statement as saying. Seized. The concert’s official ticketing partners BookMyShow and Zomato Live claimed that tickets on their platforms were sold out within minutes, leading to black marketing of tickets.
Fake tickets sold to fans
After the tickets were sold out rapidly, many reports came out which revealed the fraud done to the people. Buyers were either sold fake tickets or overcharged for selling tickets on social media platforms. Apart from one FIR lodged by online ticket booking platform BookMyShow, several FIRs have been lodged in different states. It has been alleged in the FIR that some persons, taking advantage of the high demand, sold fake tickets at exorbitant prices.
