Recently, in a letter to Musk, Yunus has said that from Musk’s visit to Bangladesh, he will get a chance to meet the youth who will join the main beneficiaries of this major technology. Yunus says, “Integrating the connectivity of Starlink with Bangladesh’s infrastructure will have a major impact on the youth and women of weaker sections.” Along with this, Yunus has directed its high representative, Khalilur Rahman to complete the work required for the launch of Starlink’s service in Bangladesh in the next 90 days. Earlier, Yunus had a telephone conversation with Musk on the issue of starting Starlink’s satellite internet service.
The satellite spectrum in India can be allocated administratively. The country’s largest telecom company Reliance Jio also plans to launch this service. Recently, a media report quoted sources as saying that Starlink has formally agreed for the conditions related to data interception by the Government of Telecom Department (DOT). In order to obtain this service license in the country, all companies have to accept these conditions. The report said that Starlink had requested to give exemption in certain conditions till the application for this was approved, but the government refused to give any exemption to foreign companies.
No foreign company has been licensed for satellite internet service by DOT. Starlinks in the country may get a competition with Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio. This spectrum can be allocated by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (DOT) in the next few months. However, Reliance Jio demanded a auction for this spectrum.
