Mumbai. A hearing was held in Bombay High Court today regarding the release of Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’. During the hearing, CBFC told the court that the film’s producer-director and lead actress Kangana has agreed to the cuts suggested by the revising committee of the Censor Board. The case was being heard by Justices Barghese Colabawala and Firdos Pooniwala. ‘Emergency’ co-producer Zee Studio had filed a petition in the High Court regarding the certification issue.
Zee Studio’s lawyer Sharan Jagtiani said that CBFC will now give its response on the suggestions given by the revising committee of the Censor Board. The cuts of the film will be decided according to this response. He told that the next hearing will now be held on October 3. In the last hearing, CBFC’s lawyer Dr. Abhinav Chandrachud had told the High Court that the revision committee has suggested some cuts in the film, after which it can be released.
Kangana Ranaut agreed to the suggestions of the revising committee.
However, the co-producers sought time from the High Court to find out what changes could be made. When the matter came up for hearing on Monday, Zee Studios senior clerk Sharan Jagtiani informed the bench that Ranaut had held a meeting with the CBFC and had agreed to the suggestions on cuts in the film.
What is the whole controversy related to emergency?
Let us tell you, Kangana Ranaut is also the director and producer of ‘Emergency’. She has also played the lead role of Indira Gandhi in the film. Since the trailer of the film was released, people of the Sikh community were protesting against it. Kangana even alleged about receiving threats. Meanwhile, Kangana also accused CBFC of delay in giving the certificate for the release. The film was initially scheduled to release on September 6.
