New Delhi. Govinda used to be a bankable star for the makers in the 90s. During that period, he had made a line of superhit films. Govinda has given the most successful films of his career with director David Dhawan. Many of their films like ‘Saajan Chale Sasural’, ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’, ‘Hero No. 1’, ‘Raja Babu’ proved to be very successful at the box office. Recently, Govinda’s wife Sunita told how the relationship between the actor and David Dhawan had deteriorated. He says that Govinda is still stuck in the 90s, even his children do not take his advice seriously.
In an interview given to YouTube channel Hindi Rush, Sunita Ahuja said, ‘I always say that David Dhawan is like my father. I had a very good bonding with him. But what happens is that at that time, actors had a lot of spoons and they used to create misunderstandings. People were jealous after seeing the partnership between David and Govinda. When you keep negative people around you, their negativity affects you too.
Why did the pairing of David Dhawan and Govinda break up?
Sunita said that filmmaker David Dhawan never said anything wrong to Govinda, but advised him to adapt to the changing times. Sunita told. ‘David didn’t say anything wrong. Solo hero films used to work in the 90s, but will such films work now? David had suggested Govinda to play the second lead role. Both (Govinda and Amitabh Bachchan) were top heroes in Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan. But the people around Govinda used to tell him that he was a hero. I used to get very angry after seeing all this. People in Govinda’s circle were not good, everyone was instigator.
‘I don’t flatter’
Wife Sunit also talked about Govinda’s upcoming films. He said, ‘I think he has announced three films, hope all goes well.’ However, he also said that he does not know much about these projects. Sunita said, ‘Until I hear the subject, I will call good as good and bad as bad. I do not flatter, whether you are my husband or Govinda. I am not a wow production, I am a true production.
Children do not listen to Govinda’s advice
Sunita Ahuja also talked about her son Yashvardhan Ahuja, who is going to make his Bollywood debut in 2025. He also said that children do not follow Govinda’s advice regarding career. Sunita said, ‘Nobody listens to Govinda’s advice because he is stuck in the 90s. I give advice according to 2024. We repeatedly tell Govinda to move ahead from the 90s.
