- What kind of problems can occur by eating a food product after its expiry date?
- What things should be kept in mind before buying anything online?
Question: What is the difference between ‘expiry’, ‘best before’ and ‘use-by’ date?
answer- Usually people consider the best before date and use-by date as the expiry date of the product and get confused and throw away the product, while there is a difference between these three as well.
Let us understand the difference between these three through the graphic given below.
Question: Which things should I check for expiry date before buying?
answer- Food items, medicines, grocery items and cosmetic products available in packages have a shelf life. After the shelf life, their effect may reduce or they may harm your health. It is the responsibility of the manufacturing company to determine and validate the shelf life of the products. Therefore, it is very important to check the expiry date.
Question- What is the shelf life of cosmetic products?
answer- The shelf life of cosmetic products depends on its maintenance. Generally, most cosmetics products have a shelf life of 30 months and 10-12 months after opening. There are two ways to check it.
- Expiry date is written on the packet of every product.
- Other products have a period after opening. This date tells how long the product is safe to use after opening.
Question: What kind of side effects can occur by using the product after the expiry date?
answer- After the expiry date, the quality, capacity or taste of food items gradually deteriorates. This can be identified by the change in colour, texture or smell. Apart from this, the potency of cosmetic products also reduces after the expiry date. What and how much harm will be caused to the body by expired food items or cosmetic products depends on how many days ago the products expired.
For example, eating expired dairy products can cause indigestion or food poisoning because bacteria can grow in them after the shelf life is over. Applying expired creams or lotions can cause skin problems.
