At the peak of his career, Govinda had worked with many actresses including Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Rani Mukherjee, but there was one actress with whom Govinda’s pairing was much liked. Both of them had worked together in many films and almost all their films were hits. This actress is Neelam Kothari.
The pair of Govinda and Neelam Kothari was the most hit pair of that era. In those days both were considered guaranteed hits. Their relationship was as popular as their films were during that period. In an interview given to Stardust in 1990, Govinda had publicly expressed his love for Neelam. He had told that he wanted to marry the actress and hence he broke his engagement with Sunita Ahuja. He had said, ‘Neelam and I were working together in back-to-back films, due to which our closeness had increased a lot, but we both belonged to different classes and I knew this.’
