so today ‘health report‘ We will know why hair falls. Also, we will know that-
- What are its symptoms and causes?
- Can we prevent hair loss?
- When is it necessary to see a doctor about hair loss?
According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), it is normal for a person to lose 50 to 100 hairs a day. If someone has about 100,000 (1 lakh) hairs on his head, then consider it as nothing to worry about. It is like a cycle that some hairs are lost and new hairs grow in their place.
Hair does not fall due to shampooing or combing
Our hair does not fall due to shampooing or combing. Actually, it has already separated from the scalp i.e. its root. Shampoo and comb make their work easier. The truth is that keeping the hair clean strengthens it. This reduces the risk of any kind of infection in its roots.
The real reason for hair fall is lack of nutrients. If our diet lacks green vegetables, fruits, and essential vitamins (D, B-12 and E), minerals (iron and calcium), then it directly affects the hair. Apart from this, if the hair is not getting the right amount of protein, it means that the hair is not getting nutrition. This can also cause hair fall.
Why does hair fall?
There are many possible reasons behind hair loss for each individual. Check out the most common causes of hair loss in the graphic.
What are the symptoms of hair loss
The age at which a person’s hair is falling and the reason for it determines what its symptoms will be. There can be many types of baldness. If men are facing baldness, then first of all the hair from the parting of hair (hairline) starts falling or the hair from a particular area in the front, back and sides of the head starts falling. Whereas women’s hair starts falling gradually from the entire head. The hair of their entire head first becomes thin and then starts falling.
See the graphic to see what kind of symptoms are usually seen.
Hair loss can happen gradually over many years or it can happen suddenly. It can be temporary or permanent.
What are the risk factors behind hair loss
Usually, the problem of hair loss is due to family history. Apart from this, there are many other factors which can increase this risk.
Baldness does not occur quickly in women
The pattern of hair loss in women and men is different. Therefore, even if women lose hair, it does not appear as baldness.
- Apart from this, women also have estrogen hormone along with testosterone in their body. This hormone acts as a protective shield in their body. For some time, it protects women from many serious diseases including heart attack. Due to estrogen, women do not become bald like men. Their hair does not fall. However, once after menopause, when the amount of estrogen in their body decreases, their hair may fall.
- Women may also suffer from hair loss due to lack of nutrients during pregnancy.
Hair styling chemicals and tools are harmful to hair
Hot water, chemicals used to curl or straighten hair, bleach, hair colour, hair dryer, hair straightener, all these things are very harmful for hair. The chemicals used on hair in hair salons cause hair fall and also make them turn grey very fast.
These styling products can be harmful to hair:
- Blow Dryer
- Hot comb
- Hair Straightener
- Hair coloring products
- bleaching agent
- Perm (a product used to curl hair)
- Relaxers
how to prevent hair fall
