Mumbai. Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandana and Akshaye Khanna’s ‘Chhava’ are performing well at the box office. The film has collected more than Rs 350 crore in 11 days. The film has been directed by Laxm Utekar. The film is having a good business. However, now this film has created a new controversy. The descendants of Maratha warriors Ganoji and Kanhoji Shirke have objected to the film. He has claimed that his ancestors are shown in an unfair and misleading manner in the film. He has threatened a defamation case of Rs 100 crore.

In response, Laxman Utekar, director of ‘Chhava’, publicly apologized. In ‘Chhava’, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s trusted companions- Ganoji and Kanhoji, along with the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, cheat them in a turning point of the story. This leads to the death of Maratha ruler Sambhaji Maharaj.

In ‘Chhava’, the descendants of Ganoji and Kanhoj warriors did not like, they believe that it is shown wrongly to their history and it tarnishes. After the release of the film, Laxmikant Raje Shirke, the 13th descendant of Ganoji and Kanhoji Shirke, severely criticized the filmmakers and said that it has incorrectly shown historical facts.

Expressing his disappointment, Laxmikant Raje Shirke said that his family’s legacy has been wrongly damaged by the depiction of the film. He also announced that he has sent a legal notice to the director and would file a defamation suit of Rs 100 crore against him. On 20 February, the Shirke family formally sent a notice to Laxman Utekar, seeking clarification about his ancestors’ depictions in the film. He also urged him to make necessary improvements.

According to reports, Laxman Utekar personally approached Bhushan Shirke, so that the family could be apologized for inadvertently any hurt. He also clarified that the film’s last names or village names are not clearly mentioned in the film. He said, “We have written only Ganoji and Kanhoji’s names in ‘Chhava’, they are not surname. We did not even tell that he belongs to the village. Our intention was not to hurt the feelings of the Shirke family. If the observance has made someone uncomfortable, then I apologize honestly. “
