In this interview itself, Rahul told that the one who suggested the name of Pakistani actress Mahira Khan for ‘Raees’ was none other than Shahrukh Khan’s mother-in-law. King Khan’s wife Gauri Khan’s mother had seen Mahira Khan in his Pakistani drama ‘Humsafar’. Rahul Dholakia says, ‘We wanted an actress to play the character of a Muslim girl of the 1980s. Therefore, our first priority was to choose an actress who could speak Hindi well, and it would have been even better if she had the ability to speak a little Urdu.

3 people rejected the film
He says that he wanted the actress of his film to be innocent and since Shahrukh Khan was 50 years old, he wanted to cast an actress of at least 30 years. He says that he had only three heroines who were 30 years old and were innocent and also spoke good Hindi. The roles for Anushka, Deepika and Kareena were very small and their fees were very high. Mahira Khan was in India those days
