Recently Nikhil Advani claimed that if ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ had been released in today’s time, it would have easily earned Rs 1000 crore at the box office.
In an interview given to Bollywood Hungama, director Nikhil Advani talked about the budget of ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’. He said, ‘Earlier we could make a film like ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ and no one would care about how much it was made for and how it would perform. It was made for Rs 32 crores. If we look at today’s inflation, its earning would have been more than Rs 1000 crore.

Nikhil Advani further told how even after years, ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ is praised. He recalled that people still remember Shahrukh Khan’s iconic chain, Rani’s mini skirt and the emotional moment of his character’s death in the film. The director said that for him the real blockbuster is the film which is still being talked about even after 10 years.

The story of the film ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ revolves around Naina (Preity Zinta), whose life changes when she meets her bubbly neighbor Aman (Shahrukh Khan). Both of them start loving each other, but Aman does not express his love to her. After learning about Aman’s past, Naina marries her best friend Rohit (Saif Ali Khan).
Earning was more than 80 crores
According to the report of Bollywood Hungama, Shahrukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan’s film ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ did a business of Rs 38 crore across the country. At the same time, the total earning of the film worldwide was Rs 81.95 crore. ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ proved to be a hit at the box office.
