In today’s busy life, it has become difficult for people to keep their hobbies alive. People are so busy with their household and office work that they do not have time for anything else. Not even for their favorite things. If there is any time left apart from these things, then we waste it on social media.

We all know how precious every minute of the day is. Whatever you do from waking up in the morning to sleeping at night, it gets connected to your life. But despite knowing this, we waste our free time. Either we forget our hobbies or due to our busy life, we are not able to do them even if we want to.

American author Elizabeth Segaran has written a book, “The Rocket Years: How Your Twenties Launch the Rest of Your Life.” She writes that hobbies play a more important role in our lives than we imagine. They give us happiness, maintain balance in life and help improve health.

Through this, we get to know ourselves, our emotions and thoughts closely. When you know what makes you happy, you can make it your hobby as well.

According to a study published in ‘The Society of Behavioral Medicine’ in 2015, people who keep their hobbies alive and participate in their favorite activities have fewer negative emotions and are less stressed. The study also found that when we fulfill our hobbies, our mental health remains good.

How to choose a hobby and how to start one

  • Choosing a hobby is not a difficult task. It should be something that you can enjoy and do regularly.
  • From sitting quietly for 15 minutes a day and observing nature closely to reading a book, there are many simple but extremely effective habits that you can turn into hobbies.
  • It’s important to find an activity that you enjoy and that you don’t have to force yourself to do.
  • If you already have a hobby, like sketching, singing or something else, then you should definitely make time for it, even if it is a little.
