New Delhi. Sunil Dutt and Nargis were one of the popular couples of Bollywood. The onscreen and offscreen chemistry of both the stars was much liked. Recently, veteran actor Ranjeet narrated the story of his first meeting with Sunil Dutt and Nargis. Sunil Dutt had organized a party at his house, in which he had also invited Ranjeet. The party was going on late at night when Nargis scolded everyone including Sunil Dutt.
Ranjit Kumar told on Timeout with Ankit podcast, ‘Some friends of Dutt sahib (Sunil Dutt) had come to the house. She (Nargis) used to make Matka Gosht. I was new there. It was only my second day in Mumbai. The food was getting heated again and again till one or two o’clock in the night. When Mrs. Dutt’s voice came, everyone stood up. He said, let’s go, how much will you drink? Pick up your glasses. Food will not be hot again and again. He had scolded everyone. Then everyone went inside.
Ranjit Kumar had refused to eat meat
Ranjit Kumar told, ‘I remember when I was at home, Sunil Dutt served me meat. I told him that I do not eat non-veg, I am a vegetarian. He said, what if you are a vegetarian? Mrs. Dutt has prepared it with her own hands, let’s eat it, it is very tasty. I said, Sir, I cannot eat, everything will go waste. Then he said, ‘Hey, this goat is also a vegetarian, he also eats grass.’

Nagaris was awake to feed the guests
The actor said, ‘I couldn’t believe it. Such a big heroine (Nargis) was awake to serve food to her guests. At that time the film Mother India was playing in my mind. I thought that she must have slept so late in the night, but it was not at all the case. She was awake and fed all the guests.
Nargis had fed dal and paratha to Ranjeet.
Ranjit Kumar told that when Nargis came to know that I do not eat non-veg, she asked her house help if there was anything left for the afternoon. House help told that there is pulses. Nargis said add tadka to the dal and make paratha. After this Nargis fed dal and paratha to Ranjeet.
Nargis died in the year 1980
It is noteworthy that Sunil Dutt and Nargis got married in the year 1958. Nagaris died in 1980 due to cancer. At the same time, after a few years in 2005, Sunil Dutt also passed away. Sunil Dutt worked with son Sanjay Dutt in the film ‘Munnabhai MBBS’.
