But if we look at this subject from a scientific point of view, then the question and its answers will also change completely.

The question is, which organ of the body remains alive for how long after death? Scientific research in this field has made it possible that now science is saving the lives of millions of people every year through organ donation.

If we have donated our organs, they can give life to someone after our death. Our eyes can see the beautiful world again by going into a new body. Our heart can beat again in someone else’s body. Lungs can breathe again and our kidneys can filter toxins from someone else’s blood. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also talked about the importance of organ donation in the 99th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’. Before this, we also talked about the importance of organ donation. Organ Donation But we have already talked about it in detail.

So today’health report‘ We will tell you what happens to our body after death. Also, we will know that-

  • What changes in the body as each hour passes?
  • Which body parts remain alive for how many hours?
  • How long does an organ remain alive after being taken out of the body?

What happens to the body after death?

Usually people understand death to mean that the heart has stopped beating. Whereas it is a long process. After the heartbeat stops, a lot of things happen in the body in a long series. This process can be called decomposition.

What happens immediately after death?

With every minute that passes after death, some changes are taking place in all the organs. For example, the most important organ of our body, the brain, is completely dependent on oxygen provided through blood for its survival. Therefore, it dies within a few minutes of the heart stopping beating. See in the graphic what changes take place in the body immediately after death.

What changes in the first hour after death?

Within an hour of death, the skin starts to turn pale. The body temperature starts to drop. The muscles start to lose their elasticity. The liver stops working, but despite the lack of oxygen, it somehow tries to survive. It needs to be removed from the body immediately and preserved for transplant.

What changes between 2 and 6 hours after death?

The initial hour after death is almost the same everywhere. Things after that depend on many factors like cause of death, climate, temperature etc.

Chemical changes start taking place in the body 2 to 6 hours after death, which starts the process of rigor mortis. In this, the muscles of the body start getting stiff. The smallest muscles of the body are affected first. It affects the muscles of the eyelids and jaw.

What happens 6 to 12 hours after death?

After so much time has passed after death, the muscles of the whole body become stiff and hard. During this time, a process called autolysis starts in the body. In this, a special enzyme comes out from the cells of our body, which starts breaking the tissues and eating them. This is called decomposition. This means that the purpose of the body in this world has been completed. Now even if no one performs its last rites, nature will slowly decompose it and destroy it in its own way.

During this process, when all the organs of our body are dying one by one, if they are taken out of the body in time and preserved, then they can be transplanted into the body of a needy person. This can give a new life to a person.

How long after death can organs be removed for transplant

After brain death, there is a lack of oxygen in the body. Without oxygen, the functioning of all the organs starts deteriorating. Therefore, after death, they have to be taken out of the body as soon as possible and given the necessary oxygen supply. See the graphic below to see how long which organ can survive by remaining in the body.
