South Korean automobile company Hyundai introduced the electric version of its popular Creta SUV in India on Thursday. The company has said that this is its first electric SUV made in the country. Creta Electric will be launched at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo on January 17.

This five-seater electric SUV will be available in four variants – Executive, Smart, Premium and Excellence. However, its design is almost similar to the Creta with internal combustion engine (ICE). It will compete with Tata Motors’ Curvv EV, MG Motor’s ZS EV, Mahindra & Mahindra’s BE 6 and Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming e Vitara. It will be brought in eight monotone and two dual-tone colors.

For Creta Electric, two battery pack options of 51.4 kWh and 42 kWh will be available. company It has been told that the variant with its 51.4 kWh battery pack has a range of about 473 kilometers on a single charge. Its 42 kWh battery pack will give a range of about 390 kilometers. This electric SUV can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 58 minutes using DC charging. Vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology has been provided in it. Creta Electric will be able to reach the speed of 0-100 kmph in just 7.9 seconds. It features a shift-by-wire system that uses electronic connections instead of mechanical linkage between the gear shift and transmission.

Hyundai has planned to make a big investment to increase its share in the EV market in the country. Recently the company was also listed on the stock market. Hyundai ranks second after Maruti Suzuki in the passenger vehicles market. Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra have made a lot of investment in the EV segment. Tata Motors has the highest share in this segment. Hyundai plans to invest approximately $2.4 billion to increase its share in this market. The company is also preparing to start its second plant this year. This will help Hyundai to meet the demand for EV and other vehicles. The company also plans to create a local supply chain for critical components of the EV.
