In an interview given to DD Urdu, Shakti Kapoor had told how Mithun Chakraborty had given him a tough class on the very first day in the hostel. He said, ‘When we reached Pune, I had beer in my hand. I thought I had become a star. Rakesh Roshan ji has come to drop me off. There was a boy standing at the gate of the hostel, who was wearing a dhoti. He had a strong body and was of dark complexion. There will be so many holes in his dhoti that you cannot count.

Shakti Kapoor further said, ‘That boy touched Rakesh Roshan’s feet. I asked him if he wanted to drink beer. He said that we do not drink in the institute and anyway it is not allowed here. That boy told his name as Mithun Chakraborty. Then as soon as Rakesh Roshan ji and others left me there, a hand came, held my hair and said that he is asking the senior to have beer. Then he took me to the hostel and threw me in the room. Said that he asks his senior to drink beer.
