Anu Agarwal talked about this in an interview given to Bollywood Bubble. When Anu was questioned about this, she replied- ‘This is wrong, I had no relationship with Mahesh Bhatt. He liked me as a director, he liked my work. There was nothing else. No one knew anything about me.’

She further said, ‘I was young and lived alone in Mumbai. I had no parents and I was a model. All my shots in Aashiqui were one-take. That’s why Mahesh Bhatt used to call me ‘one take artist’. The rumours of Anu Agarwal’s affair with Mahesh Bhatt first arose when during the shooting of Aashiqui, the veteran filmmaker started calling Anu a one take artist. He was very happy with Anu’s acting skills and work. He would often praise the actress on the sets of the film, due to which rumours started flying that Anu Agarwal was having an affair with the married Mahesh Bhatt, due to which she got this film.

Anu further said, ‘I think many people did not like it. You must know how it is. Other people start getting jealous of you and that is why many people started spreading such rumours during that time. The reactions I saw after the release of the film showed that people were spreading rumours about me and Mahesh Bhatt. They were raising questions about us. I was asked why he is so biased towards me? Why does he praise me so much? I had a lot of work during that time, so I ignored these rumours. I was a young girl living alone, who was managing everything alone at the age of 22.’
