Imtiaz Ali says Alia Bhatt was not the first choice for Highway | Alia was not the first choice for ‘Highway’: Imtiaz wanted to cast a mature actress, had considered Aishwarya’s name

Director Imtiaz Ali recently made a revelation related to his film ‘Highway’. He told that Alia Bhatt was not his first choice for the role of Veera in this film.

However, the director never approached any other actress for this role.

Alia was only 20 years old at the time of shooting of this film.

Was considering Aishwarya’s name
In an interview with Mid Day, Imtiaz told that he wanted to cast a mature actress for this role.

For this he was considering the name of Aishwarya Rai. However, he never approached Aishwarya for this role.

Highway was Imtiaz’s first film as a director. This was his fifth film as a director.

Ali wanted to cast an experienced actress
Ali said, ‘I wanted a girl above 30 years of age to play the role of Veera. I wanted to cast an actress who had some life experience.

But after meeting Alia, I was not looking for age but emotional depth and maturity, and that can be found at any age.

Randeep Hooda was in the lead role opposite Alia in the film.

The film Highway, released in 2014, was the second film of Alia’s career. For this, she won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress Critics.

On the work front, Imtiaz’s last film is ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ which was recently released on Netflix.
