India’s UPI payment system has become the largest medium of digital payment in the world. It has overtaken the payment systems of America, China and Brazil. In the month of August, a record 14.96 billion UPI transactions were done. 3,729.1 transactions were processed every second. It has overtaken China’s Alipay, America’s PayPal and Brazil’s PIX. 6 million new users are joining UPI every month. More than 40 percent of payments in the country are being made digitally.
