According to TOI report, under the first part of the plan, such technology is to be developed which is necessary for missions to the moon. Obviously, robotic missions will be sent there first, only then astronauts will be sent there.
According to the report, Chandrayaan-4 mission can be completed in the year 2028. Its objective is not only to go to the moon, but also to collect samples from there and return to Earth.
However, the plan to send astronauts to the moon is long term and may start in the year 2040. After landing on the moon, ISRO will work on developing a space station, which will orbit the moon and astronauts will be able to carry out their experiments.
Apart from the Lunar Space Station, ISRO is also preparing to build India’s first space station, which will orbit the Earth. It will be almost the same as the International Space Station and China’s Tiangong Space Station. The first module of the project named Indian Space Station (BAS) can be launched in the year 2028. Its launch will help in testing the technologies which are needed for the lunar space station.
What will be the benefit of Moon Space Station?
According to the report, if India builds a Moon space station, then scientists will be able to do studies related to the Moon by staying in it. Will be able to test new technologies. It could also serve as a life support system for future remote missions. For example, if scientists want to go to Mars, they will be able to stay at the Moon Space Station for some time.
