New Delhi. Bollywood singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has lent his voice to many iconic songs of superstar Shahrukh Khan. He has sung many hit songs for King Khan in the 1990s and 2000s. This includes ‘Tauba Tumhare Ishaare’ and ‘Woh Ladki Jo Sabse Aparat Hai’. Recently Abhijeet Bhattacharya spoke openly about his strained relationship with King Khan. He told that the problems started when he felt that his work was not being given proper credit.
During a conversation with news agency ANI, Abhijeet Bhattacharya told why he stopped singing for Shahrukh Khan. He said, ‘When self-esteem gets hurt, it feels like enough is enough. I was not singing for him (Shah Rukh Khan). I was singing for my work, but when I saw that he was giving respect even to the chaiwala who served tea on the set, but not to the singer, then I thought why should I be your voice?’
Refused to sing for Shahrukh
He further said, ‘The worst thing is that the singers with me, who had worked in those films. He came to me and said Dada this is wrong. I told them that you all should also stop singing. I’ll see what happens next. This happened not just once but in two films. I told him to go and talk to Farah (Khan). Say that we will not sing for the film unless you give us credit. He said that you go and talk to Farah. I said why should I tell Farah, I will tell Shahrukh Khan directly. I won’t sing for you unless you give us credit.
