Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan has raised the issue of film industry in the Rajya Sabha. He has accused the government of abolishing the film industry during the general discussion of the Union Budget 2025-26. Also, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has appealed to help the industry.
Cinema is being targeted
Speaking during the general discussion on the Union Budget 2025-26 in the Rajya Sabha, Jaya Bachchan said- ‘You completely ignored an industry. Earlier, governments had been doing this. And today it is very high. When you need, you call them (industry). Take photographs and then sideline them. What did you think about the film industry? Leave GST. The condition is so bad that all single screens have been closed. People do not go to see the picture on a small screen. Because everything has become so expensive. Do you want to eliminate this industry? You will not be able to do this much wrong thing.

The only industry that connects India to the whole world
Accusing the government, Jaya said that today’s government wants to completely eliminate the industry. This is the only industry, which keeps India connected to the whole world. The existence of laborers working on daily wage has come into trouble. I am speaking from the film industry. I am appealing to the government to show pity on the film industry. I urge the Finance Minister to consult it and help the industry.
