New Delhi: Mithun Chakraborty has been entertaining people with his films for decades. He made his Bollywood debut with ‘Mrigaya’, for which he was honored with the National Award. When he was given the ‘Dada Saheb Phalke Award’ for his contribution to cinema, his fans and colleagues across the country were very happy. Jaya Prada has also given her reaction. He said, ‘This is a proud moment for all of us in the film industry, because Mithun da is a megastar. He has worked in many films in many languages.
Jaya Bachchan said, ‘It is very special for me that he is getting this honor, because we are working together on two upcoming films. We have also completed ‘Rivaaz’ and the second film ‘Fauji’, in which I am sharing the screen with Dada (Mithun Chakraborty) and Prabhas. Earlier, on Monday morning, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had informed about the selection of Mithun Chakraborty for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award by the jury. He told in a post on X that he will be honored with this honor at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on October 8.
Award dedicated to fans
Talking to media persons, the ‘Disco Dancer’ fame actor dedicated this honor to his family and fans and said, ‘Once I was in Bombay. I had no food in Bombay, so I slept in the car and after that I was very scared. I don’t have anyone who has such great respect. All I can say is that I dedicate this award to my family and the fans around the world who bring happiness to our country.
Mithun da became a star after a lot of struggles
Mithun further said, ‘You know my life has never been very easy. I have had to struggle for everything. But sometimes the results come like this, then you forget all this pain. Let us tell you that the award was established in 1969 to honor the legacy of Dadasaheb Phalke, who is known as the father of Indian cinema. Veteran personalities of the film industry like Prithviraj Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, Raj Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, BR Chopra and Yash Chopra have received this honour. Waheeda Rehman received this honor in 2021.
