Actually, to apply for PAN card, the old man took out the helpline number from Google, which was the number of cyber criminals. He assured the old man of help and asked for bank account details and OTP. After this, lakhs of rupees were defrauded from his account. The victim elderly person has complained about this matter in the cyber police station.

answer- Cyber expert Pawan Duggal says that the elderly man searched the helpline number on Google without doing any investigation to get the PAN card made. He dialed the number he saw at the top and asked for help. This was his mistake.
Cyber criminals can tamper with the real customer care numbers of companies. For this he uses Google’s built-in suggestion feature. In this, requests are sent to Google from different IP addresses, due to which Google considers these numbers as genuine and shows them above. In such a situation, when someone searches the helpline number, the same number appears first.
Apart from this, cyber criminals can create a clone website and update fake customer care numbers or helpdesk numbers on it. Many times people are unable to identify fake websites and become victims of scams.

answer- Before visiting any website, it is important to know whether it is secure or not. Cyber criminals create clone websites similar to the original website to dupe people. These are also called phishing websites.
The purpose of creating these websites is to steal your personal and financial data. Therefore, before visiting any website, definitely check some things. Such as-
URL: Check the website URL carefully. There is a spelling mistake in the name of a fake website. Also, if a padlock appears before the URL, it means that the website is secure.
Think of a padlock like this. An icon will appear at the beginning of the URL of any website. Click on that icon. A bar will open below. There will be a lock symbol on it and it will be written next to it – ‘Connection is secure.’ Do not use any website without checking this information.
Security icon: If https is written in the address bar of a website then it is a secure website. If there is no ‘s’ after http then it is an insecure website. Do not share your details on such websites.
Domain Name: Most of the government websites have the domain of gov.in. Therefore, definitely check the domain name of the website. Cyber criminals can change the domain name of a trusted website to make people victims of scams. Therefore, look at the domain name very carefully.

answer- People search Google to find the helpline number or customer care number of a bank or company. This is almost certainly false. Due to this you can fall into the trap of scammers.
Always keep in mind that to get the number of customer care representative, go to the official website of that company only. Options like ‘Contact Us’, ‘Helpline’ or ‘Support’ will appear at the bottom, top, right or left side of the website page. You can see the helpline number of the company by clicking on these. Even after getting the number, cross check it once.

Any person can apply for PAN card online. There are two different official websites for this. First UTIITSL and second NSDL. Same type of documentation is required during application on both these websites.
