Karan Johar recently talked about his father Yash Johar. He said that after the failure of the film Agneepath (1990), he faced a lot of financial crisis, which had a deep impact on his father. However, the father’s handicraft business managed to handle the family’s position.

In a conversation with Komal Nahata, Karan Johar talked about his father’s handicraft business. He said that when Dharma Productions was in trouble. Films were continuously flopping, due to which we could ever be homeless. But at the same time my father’s handicraft business handled the family position. However, the business was not very profitable, yet it became our armor.

Karan Johar said, ‘World (1984), Mukaddar’s decision (1987) and Agneepath (1990) were big budget films. Both Hero and Director had big names in these films. But when Agneepath flopped, my father was really broken. He was confident that the film would take him to the level where he aspired to reach.

According to Karan Johar, the film Gumrah was released in 1993, which was just fine. But the 1998 film duplicated flopped. However, the same year the film Kuch Kuch Hota Hota proved to be a superhit. The film not only gave a place to the career of all the stars, but it became one of the highest -grossing Indian films of that era.

Name earned in the direction world

Karan entered the world of direction with the film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ released in 1998. Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherjee starrer This film tasted him success. For this film, he was awarded the Best Director and Filmfare Award by Best Screenplay.

This was followed by the film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ in 2001 and ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’ in 2006 came on screen. These films were also successful at the box office. In 2010, he received the Filmfare Award for Best Director for the second time for his film ‘My Name Is Khan’. All these films were made under his banner ‘Dharma Production’.

Karan also dominated as a producer

After the death of his father Yash Johar in 2004, Karan took over the command of Dharma Production in his hands. As a producer, many of his films have appeared in front of the audience, including ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’, ‘Dostana’, ‘I Hate Love Story’, ‘Agneepath’ and ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’.
